Archie Van Winkle
Archie Van Winkle was a famous U.S. Marine who was born in Alaska and served in three wars. He fought in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, earning him accolades both at the state and federal level. He is the only Alaskan to ever receive the Medal of Honor. He also was decorated with three Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars, among other distinctions.
