The town of Girdwood is about forty miles from Anchorage and the drive to the city is about as beautiful of drive as you could want. Most people commute to Anchorage for work, but as Girdwood is such a popular tourist location there are many seasonal jobs as well.

Girdwood began as a gold rush town at the beginning of the 1900s. It was a supply camp for the mines that were being dug there and the original name of the town was Glacier City, because of the glaciers that are present here. You can tour the trails that lead to these glaciers now, as there are seven that are easily accessible right at the front gate of the Chugach Mountains.

Some of the other activities that are popular near Girdwood Alaska real estate include biking through the trails that are laid throughout the beautiful forests and wilderness.
