Wasilla's history can be seen clearly through the past remembered at the Independence Mine Historical Park.

Wasilla has plenty of natural landscapes to be proud of, including the parks that are designed for community use as well as the two lakes that surround the city. Some of the nearby landmarks include the Talkeetna Mountains, which are north of Wasilla, and the Matanuska Glacier. The area is near the boreal forests and wetland of the Mat-Su region as well and is home to a number of recreational activities.
